Massage is the oldest known form of therapy with references made to it in medical texts nearly 4,000 years old, it is fundimentally a touch therapy.  Massage therapy positively influences the overall health and well-being of the client. It can be both stimualting and sedating as well as providing pain relief.


Benefits that a pregnant mother may experience from massage include;


  1. Reduces swelling in hands, feet and ankles

  2. Lessens sciatic pain

  3. Relieve migraine and headache pain (not associated with blood pressure).

  4. Eases muscular discomforts in areas like the low back & neck, calf cramps, 

  5. Relaxes tense muscles and can help increase flexibility and range of movement.

  6. Alleviate carpal tunnel syndrome & thoracic outlet syndrome

  7. Helps with relaxation which in turn can decrease insomnia

  8. Increases blood and lymph flow which can help increase the elimination of toxins through the circulatory and lymphatic systems, this can also help with fatigue as well as improving the immune system

  9. Increases oxygen in the blood, sometimes on up to 10-15% after a massage.

  10. Stimulates the release of endorphins, the body's natural pain killers, into the brain and nervous system.

During the treatment, towels will be used to cover you, keeping you warm and only the area being worked on will be exposed.
